Loretto Convenience Center Update

Progress continues on Lawrence County’s first permanent convenience center, located off Busby Road near Loretto’s Wastewater Treatment Facility. Fencing is complete, and gravel is being spread on the property.

People dropping off household garbage and recyclables will enter one of two drive-through lanes under the large shed. Containers will be located in the middle of the building.

The smallest structure will house a container for do-it-yourself mechanics to dispose of used oil. The larger structure at the gate will serve as an office for staff.

An opening date has not been set. Until then, South Lawrence County residents can still take advantage of the mobile convenience center set up every Tuesday near the Wastewater Treatment Facility from 6 to 10 a.m.
Mobile convenience centers are also available in other parts of the county:

Every Wednesday: West End Community Club, 5520 Waynesboro Highway, 6-10 a.m.

Every Thursday: Summertown Fire Hall, 140 State Highway 20, 6-10 a.m.

Every Friday: New Prospect Fire Hall, 4430 Pulaski Highway, 6-10 a.m.

Lawrence County Government’s goal is to establish permanent convenience centers in every quadrant of the county.
